Guzan joined Atlanta United upon the start of Major League Soccer’s secondary transfer window on July 10, 2017. He signed a multi-year contract extension with the club on Feb. 10, 2020. Guzan previously spent nine years in the English Premier League, as he played eight seasons with Aston Villa and one with Middlesbrough. Guzan began his career in MLS with Chivas USA where he played four seasons from 2005-2008, making 78 starts and leading the club to the playoffs three times. In 2008 he transferred to Aston Villa, tallying 144 appearances in the top-flight of English football. Guzan made 171 appearances across all competitions during his time with the Villans. 
2023 (Atlanta United): MLS: Made 27 starts in MLS regular season play this season. Finished with 61 total saves and seven clean sheets. One of those clean sheets came against Western Conference champions LAFC, where Guzan finished with a season-best eight saves. MLS Cup Playoffs: Started all three matches in the Round One series vs. Columbus Crew. Leagues Cup: Started both matches in Group Play of the inaugural Leagues Cup.
2022 (Atlanta United): Started first seven MLS matches of the season, keeping a clean sheet in a 1-0 win vs. DC United on April 2. Suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in his right leg on April 16 in a match against FC Cincinnati. Moved to the Season-Ending Injury List on April 27.
2021 (Atlanta United): Started 33 matches across all competitions. Started all 29 of his MLS appearances and kept 10 clean sheets. Finished in the top-five of MLS in save percentage at 77.2 %. MLS CupPlayoffs: Started Atlanta’s first round match against New York City. Concacaf Champions League: Started three matches. Started the first leg against Alajuelense but was sent off and suspended for the second leg. Started both matches against Philadelphia Union.
2020 (Atlanta United): Started all 27 matches across all competitions. Guzan was the only Atlanta player to start and play every minute in 2020, including 23 matches in MLS play where he kept six clean sheets and tallied a season-high six saves Oct. 10 against Orlando City SC. Concacaf Champions League: Guzan started all four matches and registered two clean sheets against FC Motagua in a 3-0 win on Feb. 25 and a 1-0 win against Club América on Dec. 16.
2019 (Atlanta United): Started 45 matches across all competitions. Guzan started and played every MLS minute in 2019 and finished with an 18-12-4 record. Those 18 victories were tied for the league lead. Guzan set a new single-season franchise record with 14 clean sheets, which also was tied for the league lead in 2019. His play was crucial as Atlanta set a new MLS record with five consecutive shutout victories from 4/27 – 5/15. The keeper produced 91 saves, had a 1.26 GAA and saved 67.4 percent of shots he faced. Guzan was voted to the MLS All-Star team for the second-straight season and earned three MLS Team of the week honors. MLS CupPlayoffs: Kept two clean sheets in the playoffs to help Atlanta reach the Eastern Conference Final for the second consecutive season. He tied his season-high with six saves in the 1-0 win vs. New England to open the postseason. US Open Cup: Started four of five matches in the Open Cup to lead Atlanta United to its first U.S. Open Cup trophy. Added two clean sheets in the run and made three saves in the 2-1 final victory against Minnesota United. Concacaf Champions League: Guzan started all four matches in Atlanta United’s first participation in the Concacaf Champions League. He made four stops in the Quarterfinal second leg match vs. Monterrey, as Atlanta United became the only team to defeat the eventual title winners in the competition.  
2018 (Atlanta United): Guzan made 33 starts and posted a 20-6-6 record with eight clean sheets. The 20 victories are a new single-season best mark for the veteran keeper and ranks tied for third most in MLS history. His 81 saves during the regular season set a new club record, while his goals against average sat a 1.24. He set a new club record with nine saves in a match at NYCFC on Jun. 9. He earned one MLS Team of the Week recognition during the season. MLS CupPlayoffs: Started the Eastern Conference Semifinals with a clean sheet at NYCFC. That match extended his playoff shutout streak to over 300 minutes. He produced clean sheets in the Eastern Conference Final and in the 2018 MLS Cup to help Atlanta United claim its first major trophy.  
2017 (Atlanta United): After joining the team during the secondary transfer window in July, Guzan made 14 starts, posting a 6-1-7 record and eight clean sheets. Made 38 saves. His goals against average of .71 led MLS and was the third-best mark in league history, minimum of 1,000 minutes. Led MLS in save percentage with 79.2%, minimum 10 matches played. Recorded the sixth-longest shutout streak in league history at 541 minutes, beginning during the match against Orlando City on Sept. 16 and ending against Toronto on Oct. 22 with five-straight shutouts in between. Three-time MLS Save of the Week winner. One MLS team of the Week. MLS CupPlayoffs: Started and played 120 minutes against Columbus on Oct. 26. 
2016/2017 (Middlesbrough): Guzan signed with newly promoted Middlesbrough ahead of the 2016-17 season after Villa were relegated to the Championship following the 2015-16 season. He made five combined appearances. Guzan made his debut with the club on Aug. 21 in a league match against Sunderland, leading his team to a 2-1 win. He made two more starts in the Premier League against West Bromwich (Aug. 28) and Leicester City (Jan. 2). Both matches ended in a 0-0 draw. Guzan made a start against Sheffield Wednesday in a 3-0 win in the third round of the FA Cup (Jan. 8). He also started a second round EFL Cup match against Fulham (Aug. 24) in a 2-1 extra time loss.  
2015/2016 (Aston Villa): Guzan made 32 appearances across all competitions. He started 28 Premier League matches and recorded two clean sheets. In a pair of FA Cup matches he had one clean sheet against Wycombe (Jan. 19). He held Birmingham scoreless in a 1-0 win (Sept. 22) in the third round of the League Cup. 
2014/2015 (Aston Villa): Guzan started 34 Premier League matches and recorded nine clean sheets. He was a driving force in helping keep the club out of the relegation zone, securing three wins over the club’s final six games, two of which were shutouts.  
2013/2014 (Aston Villa): Guzan started all 38 Premier League matches and recorded nine clean sheets. 
2012/2013 (Aston Villa): Guzan became a regular starter for Villa, making 36 Premier League Starts. He was named the Aston Villa Player of the Year. He recorded five clean sheets, including consecutive shut outs against Arsenal (Nov. 24) 0-0 and Reading (Nov. 27) 1-0. He also started one League Cup match, a 3-0 win over Tranmere Rovers (Aug. 28). 
2011/2012 (Aston Villa): Guzan made nine appearances across all competitions with the first team. In seven Premier League appearances he started six matches. Guzan entered as a substitute against Manchester United (Dec. 3) and assumed a 1-0 deficit. He kept the Red Devils scoreless throughout his 52 minutes played. Guzan registered a second clean sheet against Stoke City (Dec. 26). He started an FA Cup match against Bristol Rovers (Jan. 7) in a 3-1 win and a League Cup match against Hereford United (Aug. 23) in a 2-0 win. 
2010/2011 (Aston Villa and Hull City): Guzan made three appearances with Aston Villa, starting one League Cup match, a 3-1 win over Blackburn (Sept. 22), and two Europa League Qualifiers. Villa loaned Guzan to Hull in December 2010. He started 16 Championship matches, registering five clean sheets. 
2009/2010 (Aston Villa): Guzan made 10 appearances across all competitions. He started all five EFL Cup matches leading up to the final, winning all of them. He made three saves in a penalty shootout against Sunderland (Oct. 27) to win 3-1 and send Aston Villa into the quarterfinals. Countryman Brad Friedel was given the nod over Guzan in the Cup Final where Villa lost to Manchester United 2-1. He also started three FA Cup matches, winning all of them, and two Europa League Qualifiers. 
2008/2009 (Aston Villa): Guzan transferred to Aston Villa in July 2008. He made his debut with the club on Sept. 24 in a League Cup match against Queens Park Rangers. Guzan made eight total appearances, most of which came over five starts in the UEFA Cup. He made his Premier League debut as a substitute against Liverpool on March 22. It was his only league appearance. 
2008 (Chivas USA): Guzan made 15 starts and recorded 48 saves before moving to Aston Villa in the summer. 
2007 (Chivas USA): Guzan was crowned the 2007 MLS Goalkeeper of the year and named to the MLS Best XI. He made 27 starts during the regular season and made 87 saves, ranking No. 8 in the league, while his 0.93 goals against average was No. 3. MLS Cup Playoffs: Guzan played both playoff matches, making five saves and allowing just one goal. The one goal was the difference maker, as Chivas lost 1-0 on aggregate to Kansas City in the Western Conference Semifinals. 
2006 (Chivas USA): Guzan made 13 starts in goal and totaled 49 saves. MLS Cup Playoffs: He started each of Chivas’ playoff matches, making 11 total saves while letting in three goals. Chivas lost 3-2 on aggregate to Houston Dynamo in the Western Conference Semifinals. 
2005 (Chivas USA): After deciding to forgo his final two years of college and sign a Generation Adidas contact, Guzan was drafted with the No. 2 overall pick of the 2005 MLS SuperDraft. He started 23 of his 24 matches and recorded 104 saves, best for No. 5 in the league. 
INTERNATIONAL:Guzan has been capped by the United States Men’s National Team 64 times, making his debut Feb. 19, 2006 in a friendly against Guatemala. He has been a part of the USMNT squad for the 2010 and 2014 World Cups, 2007 and 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cups, as well as the 2007 Copa America and 2016 Copa America Centenario, where he was the starting keeper. In the Copa America Centenario, Guzan helped lead the USMNT to the semifinals where they lost to the eventual runners-up Argentina. During their run, he guided the team to wins over Costa Rica (June 7), Paraguay (June 11) and Ecuador (June 16) in the quarterfinals. In World Cup Qualifying for World Cup Brazil 2014, Guzan filled in for an injured Tim Howard during the Hexagonal stage of qualification for two matches. He posted back-to-back shutouts against Costa Rica, 1-0 (March 23), and Mexico, 0-0 (March 27). Guzan was also the starting keeper for the United States U-21 team in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.  
 COLLEGE: Guzan played two seasons in college with the University of South Carolina where he started 38 games over his freshman and sophomore seasons. He recorded 13 clean sheets and made 173 saves during his time with the Gamecocks while making it to the NCAA Tournament in 2004.
