Maarten Paes

ACQUIRED
Exercised a permanent transfer on goalkeeper Maarten Paes on June 28, 2022. Paes joins FC Dallas through December 2025 with club options for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. 

PROFESSIONAL

• In 2023, led MLS in save percentage at 76.4%.
• Named to MLS Team of the Matchday 4 after making two saves including a penalty kick in the 2-1 win over SKC (March 18, 2023).
• Made his debut for FC Dallas on February 26, 2022 vs. Toronto FC.
• Joined FC Dallas after four seasons with FC Utrecht appearing in 48 matches for the first team and 18 matches for the U-21 side.
• Made his Eredivisie debut in the 2-0 shutout win against PEC Zwolle on August 19, 2018.
• Started his soccer career at VV Union before rising through the ranks of NEC Nijmegen’s academy between 2012-16 serving as the backup goalkeeper for NEC’s first team on April 28, 2018.

NATIONAL TEAM

• Paes is exercising his right to obtain Indonesian citizenship through his grandmother's heritage.
• Member of the Netherlands U-19 National team that participated in the 2016 UEFA European and 2017 UEFA European Under-19 Championship but did not make any appearances.
• Last appeared in a UEFA European U-21 Championship Qualifier against Belarus U-21 on Nov. 15, 2020. 

PERSONAL

• Loves dogs especially labradoodles and his family owns one.
• His girlfriend Luna Bijl is a Dutch fashion model.
