Professional Career
2021 Real Salt Lake: Glad played in 31 matches for RSL in 2021, all of which were starts. He scored two goals to bring his career goal tally to five, scoring on September 4 against FC Dallas and June 26 against Houston. Glad also scored the winning penalty kick in the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs Knockout Round at Seattle to send RSL through. He took the kick following teammate Justin Meram’s suggestion that a homegrown should play hero in the shootout.
2020 Real Salt Lake: Glad played 1,279 minutes and started in 14 of his 17 appearances in the 2020 season. Glad recorded one goal on the season, in a 2-2 draw at home against Seattle Sounders on September 2.
2019 Real Salt Lake: Glad earned his second consecutive USMNT call-up in January 2019. In his sixth season with the club, Glad played 2,154 minutes and started in all 24 of his appearances.
2018 Real Salt Lake: In his second season as a centerback staple for RSL, Glad led the team in games started with 33, playing 2,910 minutes. Glad was recognized on MLS’s 22Under22 List at #9 for his performance on the field.
2017 Real Salt Lake: Glad started and played in 18 matches for RSL, playing 1,620 minutes.
2016 Real Salt Lake: A year that could only be described as a breakout year for the 19-year-old center back, Justen Glad set the standard for homegrown talent in the Wasatch Front. Glad featured in 28 matches for RSL, of which he started 27. Scoring his first career goal on April 2, a 2-1 win at Sporting Kansas City, he added his second and final goal of the year on October 1 at San Jose. Playing 2,424 minutes in his third year in an RSL shirt, Glad was named to the 2016 Chipotle MLS Homegrown team for the second consecutive year, a game in which he started and played 45 minutes. He was also named RSL’s Defensive Player of the Year.
2015 Real Salt Lake: Glad made six starts (two consecutive) and seven appearances overall for RSL. He also made one start each in CONCACAF Champions League and the U.S. Open Cup. He scored his first professional goal, which was also the first home goal, for USL side Real Monarchs in their inaugural home game at Rio Tinto Stadium in April 2015. Glad was named to the roster for the 2015 MLS Homegrown Game.
2014 Real Salt Lake: Glad signed midway through the 2014 season, but did not make any appearances for the club.
2012-2013 RSL Academy: Glad joined the RSL-Arizona Academy in 2012. He was a major player on the RSL-AZ U-16 team that won the 2012-13 U.S. Soccer Developmental Academy National Championship, scoring the game-winning goal in RSL-AZ Academy’s 4-1 win over Solar Chelsea SC in the U-16 Final. Glad was named to the USSDA Western Conference “Starting XI” and was named as an NSCAA High School All-American for the 2012-13 Academy season.
International Career (USA)
2018-2019: Glad received call-ups to the USMNT January camps in back-to-back years in 2018 and 2019. He also started in an appearance for the U.S. U-23 squad on November 14, 2019 against Brazil U-23.
2016-2017: Glad made 12 appearances for the United States U-20 squad, including starts in the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship and the 2017 U20 World Cup. Glad scored his first international goal on June 1, 2017 in a 6-0 victory over New Zealand U-20, while also recording an assist in the same match.
2014-2015: Called up the U.S. U-18s 10-day April training camp in Carson, California. Called up to the U.S. U-18 January camp that was held in Florida.
2013: Part of the U.S. U-17s qualifying effort for the FIFA U-17 World Cup and played for the U-17 in tournaments in Niigata, Japan and Azerbaijan. Received his first call up to the U-18s at the end of 2013, joining the team for a training camp in California.
