U22 InitiativeÁlvaro Barreal was acquired by FC Cincinnati on Sept. 2, 2020 via transfer from Argentinian side Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield using Allocation Money.
2023 (FC Cincinnati): Appeared in a career-high and club-high 34 games, starting in 32, where he mirrored his 2022 season with five goals and nine assists … named to the MLS Team of the Week on eight occasions (6-Bench, 9, 11-Bench, 16, 24-Bench, 29, 33, 37), second on the club behind Acosta … named an MLS All-Star for the first time in his career joining a short list of FC Cincinnati players to receive the nod (Acosta and Vazquez) … achieved five games with two-or-more goal contributions, including a two goal performance in the first game of the MLS Cup Playoffs in a 3-0 shutout against the New York Red Bulls … four of his 14 goal contributions came during the four-game stretch of the 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs … goal against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on June 6 in the U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals featured as the No. 1 play on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10.
